Shaolin QiGong / Chi Kung

One of the most mystical concepts of Shaolin Kung Fu is "Chi" or "Qi" which is an active principle forming part of any living thing. Qi is frequently translated as "natural energy", "life force", or "energy flow". Qi is the central underlying principle in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts.

All the near super human feats demonstrated by Shaolin Kung Fu Monks are attributed to the controlled application of Chi, which is cultivated by the Practice of Qi Gong. Qigong, Chi Kung, or Chi Gung when translated, roughly means "Life Energy Cultivation" and is a practice of aligning body, breath, and mind for health, meditation, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is the essential part of Shaolin Yi or Traditional Shaolin Medicine.
