It's got more to do with how you think than physical health
It's been noticed in the last decade, that people are much more health conscious now than they have ever been. They are more aware about nutrition and lifestyle changes that affect their health. But do they know that physical health can go only so far in helping you be truly healthy. Do they know that staying young and healthy is more about how one thinks?
Shaolin monks are known for their peaceful lifestyle and these tips can help you live a much more healthy life, in the midst of the chaos and confusion of the urban, modern world.
These tips have been translated from a Shaolin classic, so pay close attention and spread the word.
1. Don't think too much. Thinking uses up energy and can make you look old. In simple words, don’t over think situations in life. If you over think, you will sap yourself of almost all your energy.
2. Don't talk too much. Most people either talk or do. Better to do. This tip is rather simple and I’m sure will connect with almost all readers. Action is always better and speaks louder than words. Action allows experiential learning.
3. When you work, work for some time then stop and take a break. When you look at something continuously, it can damage your eyes, internal organs and peace. Take a break from your work and your thoughts. Don’t continuously work for over something without taking breaks. Meditate in your breaks. This helps gain peace and energy to continue working. The following is what Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of our world, said about meditation, it's the way to get answers even before you asked the questions'. He meditated a few times every day.
4. When you are happy, don't let it be completely uncontrolled. If you lose control then you can damage your lung energy. Traditional Chinese medicine considers lungs to be a "tender organ" because they open directly to the external environment and are vulnerable to disease-causing bacteria etc. Excitement from happiness is harmful as they may cause imbalance in lung energy. No extreme emotions from happiness should take over a person's mind and body. Balance is key.
5. Don't worry too much or get angry because this damages your liver and intestines. When you feel angry, practice self control over your anger. Uncontrolled anger can damage the liver and intestines.
6. Never eat too much food. Shaolin monks advise eating in moderation. When you eat, always make sure you are not quite full as this can damage your spleen.
7. When you do something, take your time. Don't hurry too much. It improves your focus and the task is done better in this way.
8. Balance your yin and yang A lot of physical exercise all the time and no Qigong will not help. This will make you lose your balance and you will become impatient. You lose the Yin of your body. Exercise balances the Yin and the Yang. If you never exercise, just do meditation, soft training and Qigong, then this doesn't give you Yang energy. So in effect, you exhaust more of your Yang energy. Shaolin Gong Fu gives you everything. The purpose of training is to balance our Yin and Yang. How many hours is not important. It's about knowing what your body needs. Traditional Chinese medicine prescribes cultivating and maintaining order, harmony and balance in our lives to achieve wellbeing and health.
